Slots are capped at £5 a spin in Britain.

Short answer: A payline is a fixed path across the reels. A ways slot pays for matching symbols on adjacent reels in any position. Pays-anywhere slots need only enough matching symbols.

In our seven

Starburst, Big Bass Bonanza and Book of Dead use lines; Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus pay anywhere.

In more detail

Fixed paylines run in set patterns and you usually play all of them. Ways slots count any left-to-right match on neighbouring reels, giving 243 ways on a five-by-three grid and far more on Megaways. Pays-anywhere slots drop the left-to-right rule altogether. Each produces a different rhythm of wins for the same overall return.
