Playing slots on iPad and tablets

Playing slots on iPad and tablets is straightforward: most UK casino apps are built to run on iPad, and every licensed site works in Safari or Chrome. A bigger screen makes paytables easier to read, but tablets bring their own questions, from which iPadOS version an app needs to keeping gambling apps away from children on a shared family device.

Key takeaways

  • Coral and Ladbrokes apps need iPadOS 18; PlayOJO and Casumo need iPadOS 15; 10bet needs iPadOS 16.
  • If your iPad is too old for an app, the casino’s website in Safari offers the same account and games.
  • On a shared tablet, use Screen Time or Family Link and never stay logged in.
  • UK rules stop casino software offering split-screen or multi-game play, so it is one game at a time.

Playing slots on iPad and tablets: what is different from a phone

A tablet runs the same games as a phone. Slot studios build their games to scale, so a title like Gates of Olympus uses the same maths and RTP on an iPad as on an iPhone or a laptop. Your account, balance and limits are shared across every device.

What changes is the experience around the game. The larger screen shows more of the paytable at once and makes wide grids comfortable. Tablets are often used for longer, more relaxed sessions on the sofa, which is pleasant but makes timers more important. And tablets are frequently shared within a household, which raises questions a personal phone does not. This guide covers each of those, along with the compatibility details that decide whether an app will install at all.

Which UK casino apps run on your iPad

The App Store listings for our five partner casinos all list iPad support. The deciding factor is your iPadOS version. Figures below are from the UK listings as at October 2026.

10bet: Sports Betting & CasinoiPadOS 16.0 or laterApple Vision (Mac not listed)112.3 MB

If your iPad can install the latest iPadOS, every one of these will run. Older models that stopped receiving updates at an earlier version may be able to install some apps but not others. The Coral app and PlayOJO app pages describe the individual listings in more detail.

If your iPad is too old for the app

An iPad that cannot update to the required iPadOS can still be used through the browser. The casino’s website gives you the same account, games, payment options and safer gambling tools.

  1. Open Settings, then General, then About, and note the iPadOS version.
  2. Compare it with the requirement on the App Store listing for the casino you want.
  3. If the app will not install, open Safari and go to the casino’s website directly.
  4. Log in, then use the share button and ‘Add to Home Screen’ if you want a shortcut that opens like an app.
  5. Check that the padlock appears in the address bar and that the site footer shows a UK Gambling Commission licence.

Never try to install a casino app from outside the App Store. Real-money gambling apps are listed only by licensed operators, and a file offered elsewhere could be anything. Our guide on how to check a slot site’s licence explains the register search.

Slots on Android tablets

Google Play allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain only from licensed operators that Google has approved. All five of our partners have Android apps rated PEGI 18. The Play listings do not show a minimum Android version, because Google Play now reports compatibility on the device itself: if the Install button appears on your tablet, the app supports it.

Some Android tablets, particularly those with heavily customised software or no Google Play, will not offer the apps at all. In that case, use Chrome or another up-to-date browser and play through the website. Avoid sideloading casino apps from websites or third-party stores.

What the bigger screen changes, and what it doesn’t

The obvious gain is readability. Paytables, rules and feature descriptions fit on fewer screens, so it is easier to check the RTP and max win before playing. Grid games such as 6x5 pay-anywhere slots and 7x7 cluster games, which can feel cramped on a phone, have room to breathe in landscape mode.

What does not change is the game. A larger display has no effect on outcomes, and the UK design rules apply in full: no autoplay, no turbo or slam stop, at least 2.5 seconds per spin and a fresh tap for each one.

Why you can’t play two slots side by side

iPads and many Android tablets support split-screen apps, which can suggest playing two games at once. UK rules say a casino’s gambling system must not offer functionality that facilitates playing multiple games at the same time, and the Commission’s guidance names split-screen and multi-screen features as not permitted. Expect casino apps and sites to show one game at a time, and treat any workaround as a sign you are playing faster than is wise.

Shared family tablets: keeping gambling adult-only

Tablets are often passed around the household. Casino accounts must only ever be used by the adult who opened them, and gambling by under-18s is illegal. A few habits make a shared tablet safe.

  • Never stay logged in. Log out of the casino app or site at the end of every session, and do not let the browser save the password.
  • Use Screen Time on iPad. Under Content & Privacy Restrictions you can limit apps by age rating, so 18+ apps cannot be opened or installed without your passcode.
  • Use Family Link on Android. Google Family Link gives a child their own supervised profile with Play Store content filters.
  • Give children their own profile or device where possible. iPads have one main user, so restrictions matter more there.
  • Keep payment methods protected. Require Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode for Apple Pay and for App Store purchases.

If someone else uses your casino account, the operator can close it, and its terms may allow it to withhold winnings. Keep your login private.

Sofa sessions: timers, reality checks and app limits

Tablet play tends to happen in longer stretches than phone play, and full-screen apps can hide the clock. UK rules require full-screen gambling apps that obscure the device clock to show the time of day or elapsed time wherever practicable, and casino games must display how long the session has lasted.

Add your own guard rails as well. Set a reality check in the casino account so play is interrupted at an interval you choose. On iPad, Screen Time’s App Limits can lock a casino app after a daily allowance. On Android, Digital Wellbeing offers app timers. Pair these with a session budget and you have both a time limit and a money limit.

Running iPad casino apps on a Mac or Apple Vision

The App Store shows that the Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and Casumo apps can be installed on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later, marked ‘Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS’, and that all five can run on Apple Vision. ‘Not verified’ means the developer has not tested the app on a Mac, so layout or controls may behave oddly. On a Mac, the casino’s website in Safari or Chrome is the more dependable choice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play slots on an iPad in the UK?

Yes, if you are 18 or over and use a UKGC-licensed site. You can download the casino’s app from the App Store, provided your iPadOS version meets the listing’s requirement, or play through the website in Safari. Both use the same account, balance and limits. The games, RTPs and UK rules are identical to those on a phone or computer. Our mobile slots hub compares the different ways to play.

Why won’t a casino app install on my iPad?

The most common reason is that your iPad is running an older iPadOS than the app requires. Coral and Ladbrokes need iPadOS 18 or later, 10bet needs 16, and PlayOJO and Casumo need 15. Check your version under Settings, General, About. If your iPad cannot update, use the casino’s website in Safari instead; it gives you the same account and games. Our page on the Ladbrokes app shows its listing details.

Are slots better on a tablet than a phone?

They are easier to read, not better in any other sense. The larger screen shows paytables and rules more clearly and suits wide grid games, but the RTP, volatility and outcomes are exactly the same as on a phone. Some people find tablet sessions run longer because they are more comfortable, so timers and reality checks are worth setting. Our guide to slot session length looks at how long sessions typically last.

Can I play two slots at once in split screen?

Not through a UK casino. Gambling Commission rules say the gambling system must not offer functionality that facilitates playing multiple games at the same time, and the guidance names split-screen and multi-screen features as not permitted. Expect one game at a time. Playing faster or across several games increases the amount you stake per hour without changing the odds. Our guide to UK slot game design rules lists the related restrictions.

How do I stop my children using casino apps on our iPad?

Use Screen Time. Under Content & Privacy Restrictions you can limit apps by age rating, so 18+ apps cannot be opened or downloaded without your passcode, and you can require a passcode for purchases. Always log out of casino accounts and do not save passwords. On Android tablets, Google Family Link sets up a supervised profile with content filters. Our guide on how to block gambling sites covers blocking software for extra protection.

Do casino apps work on Android tablets?

Usually, yes. Google Play allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain from licensed operators it has approved, and all five of our partners have Android apps. Google Play shows compatibility on the device, so if the Install button appears, the app supports your tablet. Tablets without Google Play, or with heavily modified software, may not offer the apps; use the casino’s website in Chrome instead. Our page on the 10bet app describes one Android listing.

Can I use an iPad casino app on my Mac?

Some can be installed on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later. The App Store lists the Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and Casumo apps as ‘Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS’, which means the developer has not tested them on a Mac. They may work, but controls and layout can behave unpredictably. The casino’s website in a Mac browser is the more reliable option. Our Casumo app page lists its device support.

Can I set a time limit for casino apps on my tablet?

Yes, in two ways. In your casino account, set a reality check so play pauses at an interval you choose, and consider a deposit limit too. On the tablet itself, iPad Screen Time App Limits and Android Digital Wellbeing app timers can lock an app after a daily allowance. If you want a longer break, use a time-out on the account or GAMSTOP. Our guide to taking a break from slots explains the options.
