Playing slots on mobile works the same way as on a computer: one account, one balance, the same games and the same UK rules, whether you use a casino’s app or its website in your phone’s browser. The differences are practical: how you log in and pay, what happens if your signal drops, and where to find the limits and reminders on a small screen.
App and mobile site share one account, balance, limits and verification.
Only licensed operators can list real-money apps on the UK App Store and Google Play.
If your connection drops mid-spin, the result stands and the game should restore it.
Full-screen gambling apps that hide your phone’s clock must show the time themselves.

Playing slots on mobile: how it works in the UK
Every UK slot site now builds its games for touch screens first. Modern slots run in HTML5, which means the same game file runs in a phone browser, inside a casino app, or on a laptop. The reels, paytable, RTP and features are identical on each, although the layout often changes to fit a narrow screen.
Your account works the same way. If you sign up on a laptop and later download the casino’s app, you log in with the same details and see the same balance, deposit limits, verification status and history. Anything you set on one device, such as a time-out, applies on all of them. Our mobile slots hub has an overview of the options; this guide focuses on the practical details.

Neither option changes the odds. Apps tend to be quicker to open and can offer conveniences like biometric login; the browser keeps nothing installed and is easier to walk away from. Some people prefer not to have a casino icon on their home screen at all, which is a perfectly good reason to stick to the browser.
What the UK app store listings show
Apple allows real-money gambling apps on the UK App Store only from licensed operators, and Google Play allows them in Great Britain only from licensed operators it has approved. Here is what the official listings for our five partner casinos show, as at October 2026.

All five are rated 18+ on iOS and PEGI 18 on Google Play. The Android listings did not show a minimum Android version, since Google Play now displays that on the device itself. If an app does not appear in your store, check the developer name against the operator on the casino’s website before downloading anything from elsewhere.
Always download from the official App Store or Google Play listing. A casino app offered as a file from a website or message is a red flag.
Setting up a slot account on your phone
Download the app from the official store, or open the casino’s website in your browser.
Register or log in. New accounts go through age and identity checks before you can play, including free demo games.
Before depositing, open the account or safer gambling menu and set a deposit limit that suits your budget.
Set a reality check reminder so play is interrupted at an interval you choose.
Deposit with a method the site accepts. If you are claiming a welcome offer, check the excluded payment methods first.
Open a slot, tap the info icon and check the RTP and rules before your first spin.
Our guide to age checks on slot sites explains what verification involves and why demo play is behind it.
Paying on mobile: Apple Pay, Google Pay and offer exclusions
Phone wallets are the most convenient way to deposit on mobile. Coral and Ladbrokes list Apple Pay and Google Pay for deposits and withdrawals, with a published £5 minimum for Google Pay. Casumo lists Apple Pay, and its iOS listing mentions a Quick Deposit option. See our Apple Pay slot sites page for more.
Two rules matter. First, credit cards cannot be used to gamble in Great Britain, and that includes a credit card stored in Apple Pay or Google Pay; use a debit card in your wallet. Second, welcome offers exclude some methods. Coral’s 100 free spins offer, for new players aged 18+ who deposit and bet £10 on slots, excludes Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards. Ladbrokes’ offer excludes prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers. The terms are the same on the app and the website.
Portrait, landscape and the controls on a small screen
Most slots now play in portrait mode, with the reels at the top and the spin button within reach of your thumb. Wider grids, such as 6x5 pay-anywhere games, may switch to a different layout or work better in landscape. If the paytable text is hard to read, rotating the phone often gives the info screens more room.
UK rules shape the controls. There is no autoplay and no turbo or slam stop, each spin must last at least 2.5 seconds, and holding your finger on the button does not start the next spin: every spin needs a fresh tap. Stake limits of £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24 apply on mobile just as on desktop.
Signal, data and what happens if the connection drops
A slot spin is decided on the game server, not on your phone. If your signal drops after you press spin, the result has usually already been generated. Under the Gambling Commission’s rules on interrupted gambling, where you can no longer influence the outcome the result should stand, and operators must keep enough information to restore a game to its last known state so you can finish it. In practice, you reopen the game and it either shows the completed result or resumes a feature where it stopped.
Free spins rounds and bonus games are the most common things to be interrupted, simply because they last longer. If a round does not resume, note the time and the game name and contact support; the round will be in your history. Our pages on a slot that froze mid-spin and a slot game not loading cover the fixes.
Privacy, location and security on your phone
App store privacy labels show what each app says it collects. Coral’s iOS label lists coarse location linked to you; Ladbrokes’ lists precise location not linked to you; PlayOJO’s iOS listing notes that the app may use your location even when it is not open. Casumo’s Android data safety section says it may share location, and 10bet’s says it may collect it. You can manage location permissions in your phone’s settings.
Lock your phone with a passcode or biometrics, since a casino app may keep you logged in.
Do not let anyone else use your account, and do not save passwords on a shared device.
Turn on two-step verification on your email account, because that is where password resets go.
Never deposit on public Wi-Fi without a secure connection; use mobile data if unsure.
Safer gambling tools on a phone
A phone is always with you, which makes it easy to play in short bursts that add up. The same account tools are available in every app and mobile site, and the store listings name some of them: PlayOJO lists Safe Mate, Take A Break and Deposit Limits, and 10bet lists deposit limits, breaks and self-exclusion in account settings.
UK rules also require time information. If a full-screen gambling app hides your phone’s clock, the app must show the time of day or the time elapsed since it started, wherever practicable. Casino games must also display how long the session has lasted. Use these alongside deposit limits, and switch off marketing notifications in your phone’s settings if they tempt you to open the app. If you want a firmer barrier, our guide on how to block gambling sites covers blocking software.
Where to play slots on mobile with our partners
All five of our partners are licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and have apps on both UK stores. Coral’s offer gives new players aged 18+ who deposit and bet £10 on slots 100 free spins at 10p on selected games, with no wagering. Ladbrokes gives up to 500 free spins at 10p over ten days to new customers who play £10 on slots, with no wagering. Casumo offers a 50% first-deposit bonus up to £100 with a £20 minimum, wagered 10x within 7 days. Terms apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes run dedicated casino apps separate from their sportsbook apps, and Casumo’s iOS app supports Face ID and Apple Pay according to its store listing. 18+, new customers, terms apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
Can I play real money slots on my phone in the UK?
Yes, if you are 18 or over and use a site licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. You can play through the casino’s app or its website in your phone’s browser, and both use the same account, balance and limits. Age and identity checks happen before you can play, including demo games. The same stake limits and game design rules apply as on a computer. Our guide to real money slots explains how play for cash works.
Is a casino app better than the mobile website?
Not in terms of games or odds, which are identical. Apps can be quicker to open and may offer extras such as biometric login or quick deposits; Casumo’s iOS listing, for example, mentions Face ID and a Quick Deposit option. The website needs no installation and leaves nothing on your home screen. Choose whichever you find easier to control. Our page on the Casumo app shows what one app listing includes.
What happens if my phone loses signal during a spin?
The outcome is normally decided on the game server when you press spin, so losing signal does not change it. UK rules say that where you can no longer influence the result it should stand, and operators must keep enough information to restore the game so you can complete it. Reopen the game and it should show the result or resume the feature. If not, contact support with the game name and time. Our page on a slot that froze mid-spin has more detail.
Can I use Apple Pay to play slots?
Yes, at sites that accept it. Coral, Ladbrokes and Casumo list Apple Pay as a deposit method. The card inside your wallet must be a debit card, because credit card gambling is banned in Great Britain, including when the card is held in Apple Pay or Google Pay. Check whether a welcome offer accepts your chosen method before depositing, as some exclude e-wallets. Our Apple Pay free spins page looks at how offers treat wallet deposits.
Do slots pay differently on mobile?
No. The same certified game runs on mobile and desktop, with the same RTP version chosen by the casino and the same random number generator. Only the layout changes to fit the screen. If a game shows a different RTP on your phone, you may be on a different site or a different version of the game, so check the info screen. Our guide on how to find a slot’s RTP shows where to look.
Why is there no autoplay on mobile slots?
Autoplay has been banned on online slots in Great Britain since 31 October 2021, on every device. Each spin needs a fresh tap, holding the button does not start the next spin, and every spin must last at least 2.5 seconds. These rules aim to slow play down and keep players in control. Turbo and slam stop were banned at the same time. Our page on why there is no autoplay on UK slots explains the reasoning.
How much data do mobile slots use?
It varies by game, so there is no single figure. The biggest use is usually when a game first loads its graphics and sound; after that, each spin sends only a small amount of data. Visually rich games and those with long animations use more than simple ones. If you are on a limited plan, Wi-Fi is the safer choice for longer sessions, and your phone’s settings show how much data each app has used. Our mobile slots hub covers device choice in more detail.
Are casino apps safe to download?
Apps from the official UK App Store or Google Play are listed only by licensed operators, which is a strong first check. Confirm the developer name matches the casino’s operator, such as LC International Limited for Coral and Ladbrokes, and never install a casino app from a link or file outside the stores. Keep your phone locked and avoid saving passwords on shared devices. Our guide on how to check a slot site’s licence shows how to look up the operator.
Can I set limits from my phone?
Yes. Deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion are account settings, so you can set them in the app or mobile site and they apply everywhere. Store listings name some of these tools: PlayOJO lists Safe Mate, Take A Break and Deposit Limits, and 10bet lists deposit limits, breaks and self-exclusion. GAMSTOP lets you self-exclude from all UK online gambling at once. Our guide on how to set deposit limits walks through it.
Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Get support from GamCare or NHS gambling support, or block yourself from all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
