Slots are capped at £5 a spin in Britain.
Short answer: A book slot uses a book symbol as both wild and scatter. Three books award free spins with one symbol chosen to expand across the reels. Book of Dead is the best known.
Why they swing
Everything depends on which symbol expands. A premium symbol on all five reels is the top prize; a card rank usually pays little.
Book of Dead: 96.21% by default, very high volatility, 5,000x maximum.
In more detail
The format began in land-based casinos and moved online in the 2010s. Dozens of 'Book of' games now exist, differing mainly in theme and in small rule changes such as extra expanding symbols. Their shared trait is a top-heavy pay structure: a large part of the return sits in rare, very good features.
