Slots are capped at £5 a spin in Britain.
Short answer: Cluster pays slots have no paylines: wins are formed by groups of matching symbols touching each other on a grid. A related type pays for enough matching symbols anywhere, as Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus do.
Clusters and pays-anywhere
True cluster slots need symbols to touch. Scatter-pays slots need only a count: eight or more anywhere on a six-by-five grid.
Winning symbols vanish and new ones fall, so one spin can produce several wins.
In more detail
On a true cluster slot, five or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically form a win, and bigger clusters pay more. Because any part of the grid can pay, there is no 'line' to watch, which some players find easier and others find chaotic. Most cluster and pays-anywhere slots are highly volatile.
