Reactoonz 2 slot review

The Reactoonz 2 slot is Play'n GO's 2020 sequel to its alien cluster game: wins still need five or more matching aliens on a 7 × 7 grid, but a randomly chosen fluctuating symbol now creates Electric Wilds that charge two meters. Top RTP is 96.2%, volatility is high and the max win is 5,083× stake. Below, every meter and Wild type is explained in the order you meet them.

Reactoonz 2 slot overview

Reactoonz 2 returns Play'n GO's aliens, led by Gargantoon, to a 7 × 7 board. The sequel's job was to make the base game feel more eventful than the original Reactoonz, and it does that by adding a symbol that changes every round and a new kind of Wild that powers everything else. If the first game was a single battery, this one is a circuit with two meters and three different Wilds.

That extra layering is the main thing to understand before staking real money. It makes individual spins more interesting to watch, but it does not make the game more generous: the top RTP is a little lower than the original's, and volatility remains high.

How clusters and cascades work in Reactoonz 2

Any group of five or more identical aliens joined horizontally or vertically pays, with bigger groups paying more. Winning aliens are transported away, the rest fall, and new aliens drop in from above. A paid spin keeps going until no new cluster forms. Our cluster pays entry explains the model in general terms; Reactoonz 2 is a textbook example of it.

The lower-paying aliens have one eye and the premium aliens have two. That distinction matters here more than in most slots, because the sequel's main feature is built around the one-eyed group.

The fluctuating symbol and Electric Wilds

At the start of each round, one of the one-eyed aliens is chosen at random as the fluctuating symbol. It is highlighted so you can see which one it is. When you win with a cluster of that symbol, Electric Wilds are created on the grid.

Electric Wilds substitute for other aliens like any Wild symbol, but they also do two jobs. First, they fill the Fluctometer and charge Wilds that aren't yet charged. Second, they add charge to the Quantameter. In other words, a win with the fluctuating alien doesn't just pay; it feeds both meters at once.

Reading the Fluctometer and Quantameter

Two meters sit beside the grid, and new players often confuse them. The table sets out what fills each one and what it releases, as described by Play'n GO.

MeterFilled byWhat it does
FluctometerElectric WildsCharges uncharged Wilds on the grid
Quantameter (partly filled)Electric WildsAdds Energoon Wilds
Quantameter (fully charged)Electric WildsUnleashes Gargantoon Wilds

The order matters. Gargantoon Wilds are the top tier and come only from a fully charged Quantameter, which in turn needs a run of Electric Wilds, which in turn need wins with the fluctuating symbol. That chain is why the biggest results are rare. The exact thresholds and Wild sizes are listed in the in-game help, which is the authoritative source for the version you are playing; how to read slot game info shows where to find them.

A Reactoonz 2 spin, step by step

This illustrative sequence shows how the pieces connect on one spin. The cash figures are invented for the example; the order of events follows the developer's description.

  1. You stake 40p. A green one-eyed alien is highlighted as this round's fluctuating symbol.
  2. A cluster of six green aliens lands and pays a small amount.
  3. Because it was the fluctuating symbol, Electric Wilds appear on the grid.
  4. The Electric Wilds charge the Fluctometer and add charge to the Quantameter.
  5. Cascades bring a new cluster that uses an Electric Wild and pays again.
  6. The Quantameter reaches its partial level and Energoon Wilds are added.
  7. No further clusters form, so the spin ends; the total is shown against your 40p stake.

Most spins stop much earlier, at step two or before. Spins that run all the way to Gargantoon Wilds are the exception, and they carry most of the game's long-run return. For why that makes sessions so uneven, read slot volatility explained.

Reactoonz 2 RTP and volatility in pounds

The top published RTP is 96.2%. That is 0.31 percentage points below the original's 96.51%, or 31p per £100 staked. Play'n GO supplies lower versions too, and casinos choose which to run, so the figure in the rules matters more than the headline. Slot RTP versions explains how to check.

A worked example: 150 spins at 30p is £45 staked. At 96.2% the long-run average return is £43.29, a theoretical cost of £1.71. Because the game is high volatility, a real 150-spin session is more likely to finish noticeably below that average than near it, with a small minority of sessions finishing well above it when the Quantameter fills.

Playing Reactoonz 2 under UK rules

UK online slots must take at least 2.5 seconds per spin, can't offer autoplay, turbo or slam-stop, and must show your net position. Stakes are capped at £5 a spin from age 25 and £2 for ages 18 to 24. Reactoonz 2 has no bonus buy to remove, because the features all happen inside normal spins. The demo can be opened once a casino has verified your age. Full detail is in UK slot game design rules.

Reactoonz 2 strengths and weaknesses

Advantages

  • More happens in the base game than in the original
  • The fluctuating symbol gives each round a visible focus
  • Slightly higher max win than Reactoonz
  • Everything plays out on one screen

Drawbacks

  • Top RTP of 96.2% is below the original's
  • Two meters and three Wild types take time to learn
  • Biggest results depend on a long chain of events
  • Lower-RTP versions are common at UK casinos

Reactoonz 2 suits players who enjoyed the first game and want more to watch on each spin. If you prefer simplicity or the higher RTP, the original remains the cleaner choice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Reactoonz 2?

The top RTP of Reactoonz 2 is 96.2%. Play'n GO also supplies lower configurations, and each casino chooses which one to offer, so open the rules in the game to see the figure you are actually playing at. At 96.2% the long-run average cost is £3.80 per £100 staked, though individual sessions vary widely on a high-volatility game. See why RTP differs between casinos and our RTP guide.

What is the fluctuating symbol in Reactoonz 2?

The fluctuating symbol is one of the one-eyed aliens, chosen at random at the start of each round and highlighted on screen. Winning with a cluster of that alien creates Electric Wilds, which charge the Fluctometer and the Quantameter. It doesn't pay more than its normal paytable value, but it is the trigger for the game's feature chain. Our guide on how slot features trigger explains similar random mechanics in other games.

How do you get Gargantoon in Reactoonz 2?

Gargantoon Wilds are released when the Quantameter is fully charged. The Quantameter is filled by Electric Wilds, which are created by winning clusters of the fluctuating symbol. A partly filled Quantameter adds Energoon Wilds first. Because each step depends on the one before, Gargantoon Wilds are rare, and a long run without them doesn't make them more likely on the next spin. Read are online slots random for why.

Does Reactoonz 2 have free spins?

No, Reactoonz 2 doesn't have a separate free spins round. Like the original, it delivers its features inside paid spins through cascades, Electric Wilds, the Fluctometer and the Quantameter. There are no scatter symbols that send you to a bonus screen, and there is nothing to buy, which fits the UK ban on bonus buys anyway. If you prefer a free spins round, our list of free spins slots is a better starting point.

What is the max win on Reactoonz 2?

The maximum win on Reactoonz 2 is 5,083× your stake. That is £1,016.60 at 20p, £10,166 at the £2 limit for players aged 18 to 24 and £25,415 at the £5 limit for players aged 25 and over. Reaching it needs Gargantoon Wilds and a long cascade chain, which is extremely rare. Most sessions end below their starting balance. For how caps are paid, read what happens when a slot hits max win.

Is Reactoonz 2 better than Reactoonz?

Reactoonz 2 is busier rather than better. It adds the fluctuating symbol, Electric Wilds and a second meter, and lifts the max win from 4,570x to 5,083×. The original has the higher published RTP, 96.51% against 96.2%, and a simpler charge system. Players who like more on-screen activity tend to prefer the sequel; those who value the better long-run return may stick with the first. Our Reactoonz review covers the original.

When was Reactoonz 2 released?

Play'n GO released Reactoonz 2 on 1 October 2020, almost three years after the original Reactoonz arrived on 23 October 2017. A further follow-up, Gigantoonz, came in 2022 with an 8 × 8 grid and a 4,000× stake cap. The series began with Energoonz, which Play'n GO lists as the prequel. For a look at how studios approach follow-ups, see how slot sequels differ.

Can I play Reactoonz 2 in demo mode in the UK?

Yes, you can play Reactoonz 2 in demo mode in the UK once a casino has verified your age, which has been required for free-to-play slots since May 2019. Demo credits have no cash value. Using the demo to watch how often the Quantameter fills is a sensible way to understand the game's volatility before deciding whether to play for real. See how to test a slot in demo mode.

How much can I stake on Reactoonz 2?

UK players can stake up to £5 a spin on Reactoonz 2 if they are 25 or over, and up to £2 a spin if they are 18 to 24. The minimum depends on the casino's configuration. With a high-volatility game, a stake that gives your budget at least 150 spins is a sensible starting point, for example 20p a spin on a £30 budget. Read what stake should I play on slots for more examples.
