Jackpotjoy slots are run by Gamesys Operations Limited under UK Gambling Commission account 38905, the same licence behind Double Bubble Bingo, Bally Casino and white labels such as Virgin Games and Monopoly Casino. Online since 2002, the brand mixes bingo, slots and Slingo. Here is who owns it now, what its register entry shows, and how jackpot maths works.
Jackpotjoy is operated by Gamesys Operations Limited, Gibraltar, UKGC account 38905, licensed since 1 November 2014.
Gamesys is now part of Intralot S.A., which is 58% owned by Bally’s Corporation.
The Commission imposed a £6,071,292 penalty package on the licensee in November 2023.
Jackpot slots fund their top prizes from every stake, so the base game usually pays back less.

Jackpotjoy slots: a Gamesys brand since 2002
Jackpotjoy says it has been online since 2002, which makes it one of the longer-running UK bingo and slots brands. It was built by Gamesys, a London-based company that developed its own games as well as running sites; Double Bubble, for example, is a Gamesys title with a published 96.02% RTP and medium volatility.
Ownership has changed twice in recent years. Bally’s Corporation bought Gamesys in 2021, and in October 2025 Bally’s international online business, including Gamesys, was combined with Intralot S.A., in which Bally’s holds a 58% stake. The licence holder throughout has been Gamesys Operations Limited, registered at Waterport Place in Gibraltar.

Jackpotjoy sister sites on the Gamesys licence
The licence carries a small number of directly run brands and a larger set of white labels:
White label:Virgin Games, Monopoly Casino and several Rainbow Riches domains.
Inactive: megawayscasino.com.
Every brand on the list shares the same licensee and therefore the same compliance and safer gambling framework, but each keeps its own accounts and terms.
The 2023 Gambling Commission penalty
On 22 November 2023 the Commission announced a penalty package of £6,071,292 against Gamesys Operations Limited, including a £165,042 divestment. It found that between November 2021 and July 2022 the licensee breached anti-money laundering conditions and a social responsibility provision on customer interaction, and did not follow anti-money laundering guidance for casinos. The Commission also issued a warning and added a licence condition. The register notes that the licensee cooperated and said it had taken corrective action.
Customer interaction rules require operators to spot signs of harm, such as rising spend or long sessions, and to step in. That is the same system that may trigger an affordability check on your account.
How jackpots on Jackpotjoy-style slots work
A brand with ‘jackpot’ in its name puts these games front and centre, so it is worth knowing how they are funded. There are three common types:
Type
How the prize grows
When it pays
What it means for RTP
Fixed jackpot
Doesn’t grow; set multiple of stake
When the trigger combination lands
Built into the game’s normal RTP
Progressive jackpot
A slice of every stake, often across many sites
At random or via a bonus wheel
Base game pays less to fund the pot
Must-drop jackpot
Grows until a set cap or time
Before the cap or deadline
Similar to progressive, with a known limit
The cost shows in the numbers. Mega Moolah lists an 88.12% RTP including its progressive share, against 96.02% for Double Bubble. At 20p a spin over 500 spins (£100 staked), the long-run average cost would be about £11.88 on the first and £3.98 on the second. Most of Mega Moolah’s extra return is concentrated in jackpots that very few players ever win.
Open the game’s help screen and find the RTP; check whether it says the jackpot contribution is included.
Look for the minimum stake needed to qualify for the jackpot; some games pay the top prize only at higher stakes.
Check whether the jackpot is local to one site or networked across many casinos.
For must-drop jackpots, note the cap or deadline shown on the jackpot meter.
Read how the jackpot is triggered: random, a bonus wheel, or a symbol combination.
Set your stake by your budget, not by the jackpot size.
Bingo, Slingo and slots under one account
Jackpotjoy offers 75-, 80- and 90-ball bingo, slots, Slingo, casino and live dealer games, and sports betting. Slingo blends a bingo-style grid with a slot spin, and many players move between formats in one session. The UK slot rules apply to slot games whatever room they appear in: a £5 stake cap for players aged 25 and over, £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, 2.5 seconds per spin and no autoplay. Read our UK slot rules guide for the full list.
Safer gambling tools at Jackpotjoy
Gamesys Operations must provide deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion, and take part in GAMSTOP. Chat-heavy bingo rooms can make sessions run longer than planned, so a reality check is especially useful. See how to take a break from slots for the options. Frequently asked questions
Who owns Jackpotjoy?
Jackpotjoy is operated by Gamesys Operations Limited, a Gibraltar company holding UK Gambling Commission account 38905. Gamesys was bought by Bally’s Corporation in 2021, and since October 2025 it has sat within Intralot S.A., which is 58% owned by Bally’s. The same licence covers Double Bubble Bingo and Bally Casino, with Virgin Games and Monopoly Casino as white labels. Confirm the current details by searching the account number, as explained in our licence check guide.
Is Jackpotjoy licensed in the UK?
Yes. In October 2026 jackpotjoy.com was listed as an active domain under Gamesys Operations Limited, account 38905, which holds remote casino and bingo licences active since 1 November 2014 and betting licences added later. That means the site must meet UK standards on fair games, age checks, stake limits and safer gambling tools. A licence doesn’t change the odds: slots and bingo carry a house edge. Our guide on who tests UK slots explains how fairness is checked.
Why was Jackpotjoy’s operator fined?
On 22 November 2023 the Gambling Commission imposed a £6,071,292 package on Gamesys Operations Limited, including a £165,042 divestment. It found anti-money laundering failings and a breach of customer interaction rules between November 2021 and July 2022, and issued a warning plus an extra licence condition. The licensee cooperated and said it had made improvements. The decision applies to the licensee, which runs several brands, not to Jackpotjoy alone. See affordability checks on slot sites for how customer interaction affects players.
What are Jackpotjoy’s sister sites?
Brands on the same Gamesys Operations licence include Double Bubble Bingo and Bally Casino, both active domains, plus white labels such as Virgin Games, Monopoly Casino and several Rainbow Riches sites. In October 2026 megawayscasino.com was listed as inactive. Each brand has separate accounts and terms, but they share one licensee and compliance framework. Our Virgin Games profile and Double Bubble Bingo profile cover two of them.
Are jackpot slots worth playing?
That depends on what you want from a session. Progressive jackpot slots usually have a lower base RTP because part of every stake funds the top prize: Mega Moolah lists 88.12%, against around 96% for many standard slots. Over £100 of stakes, that difference is roughly £8 of extra average cost. In return you get a tiny chance of a very large prize. If you value steady play, a standard slot is cheaper. Our explainer on whether jackpot slots are worth it runs the numbers.
Is a must-drop jackpot more likely to pay as it nears the cap?
A must-drop jackpot must pay out before it reaches a set cap or time, so as the meter gets close to that limit, it will drop soon. That doesn’t make the game itself a good bet: the jackpot share is still built into the RTP, and someone else may trigger it first. Any one spin’s chance of winning it stays small. Staking more to chase a near-cap meter can be expensive. Our guide to how must-drop jackpots work explains the maths.
Did Gamesys make its own slots?
Yes. Gamesys developed games for its own sites as well as running them. Double Bubble is the best-known example, a 5-reel, 20-payline Gamesys slot with a published 96.02% RTP and medium volatility. Its max win varies by version, so check the help screen where you play. We don’t claim which in-house titles are in Jackpotjoy’s lobby today, because lobbies change. Our full Double Bubble review explains how its features work and what the figures mean.
What is the stake limit on Jackpotjoy slots?
Online slot stakes in Great Britain are capped at £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24, rules that came into force in April and May 2025. They apply at Jackpotjoy and every other UK-licensed site, including on slot games inside bingo rooms. Individual games may set lower maximums, and a jackpot game may require a minimum stake to qualify for the top prize. Read how much you can bet on slots.
How do I self-exclude from Jackpotjoy and its sister sites?
You can self-exclude from Jackpotjoy in its safer gambling settings, and the operator may extend that to related brands on the same licence. To block every UK-licensed online gambling site at once, including all Gamesys brands, register with GAMSTOP for six months, one year or five years. Self-exclusions can’t be lifted early. If you only want a short pause, use a time-out instead. Our step-by-step guide to self-exclusion covers each route.
Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Get support from GamCare or NHS gambling support, or block yourself from all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
