Red Tiger slots come from a studio founded in 2014, bought by NetEnt in 2019 and part of Evolution since December 2020. It is best known for daily drop jackpots attached to ordinary slots and for Megaways remakes of older hits. The catch for UK players is that several Red Tiger games come in more than one RTP version, so the help screen matters more than usual.
Red Tiger was founded in 2014, acquired by NetEnt in September 2019 and has been owned by Evolution since December 2020.
Its daily drop jackpots must pay out before a set deadline, which is different from a classic progressive that can grow for months.
Several Red Tiger games run in more than one RTP version; Cash Volt ranges from about 91% to 96%.
Most of its best-known titles are rated high volatility, so short sessions swing a lot.

Red Tiger slots in brief
Red Tiger is a slot developer founded in 2014. At the time NetEnt bought it in September 2019, for an initial £200m, the business had operations in Malta, the Isle of Man and Bulgaria. When Evolution completed its takeover of NetEnt in December 2020, Red Tiger came with it, so today it sits alongside NetEnt, Big Time Gaming and Nolimit City in the same group.
Two things set the studio apart in a UK lobby. First, many of its games carry a jackpot panel above the reels that has nothing to do with the paytable. Second, it has rebuilt several older hits from its sister studios as Megaways games. Both are explained below, along with the maths habit that matters most: multiple RTP versions.

Being inside a large group explains why Red Tiger could release Megaways versions of NetEnt classics: Big Time Gaming invented Megaways and NetEnt owns the original games, so the rights sit under one roof.
How Red Tiger daily drop jackpots work
Red Tiger’s daily jackpots are a form of must-drop jackpot. Instead of growing until a lucky spin hits it, each pot has a deadline or a cap and has to pay out before it is reached. A panel above the reels shows the current amounts and how long is left. The pots are funded by a small share of stakes across the games and casinos linked to them.
In practice this means:
The jackpot can land on any qualifying spin, whatever you are staking within the limits.
Your chance on a single spin is still tiny, because many players are feeding and chasing the same pot.
A pot close to its deadline is not a reason to stake more. Your odds per spin rise only slightly, and the house edge on the base game is unchanged.
Jackpot timing is a common reason people play longer than planned. If a countdown is pulling you back, set a reminder or a reality check in your account settings.
Our guide to how must-drop jackpots work has the full explanation, and our daily jackpot slots page compares the format across studios.
Red Tiger’s Megaways remakes
Red Tiger has taken several existing games and rebuilt them on the Megaways engine, where every reel shows a random number of symbols on each spin and the number of ways to win changes every time. The two best-known examples in our library are Gonzo’s Quest Megaways, a remake of NetEnt’s jungle adventure, and Piggy Riches Megaways.
Remakes keep the theme but not the maths. Gonzo’s Quest Megaways offers up to 117,649 ways and a 21,000x top prize at a 95.77% default RTP, compared with a much flatter original. If you liked the old version for its steady pace, expect a bumpier ride.
Notice that only Mystery Reels clears 96% in this list. That does not make the others bad games, but it does mean they cost a little more per spin on average than many rivals, and it makes checking the live version more important.
Red Tiger RTP versions: what the difference costs
Developers often supply the same game at several return settings and let the casino choose. Cash Volt is the clearest Red Tiger case, with versions from roughly 91% to 96%. Here is what that spread means over 500 spins at 20p (£100 staked):
RTP version
Expected return
Expected cost
96%
£96.00
£4.00
94.78%
£94.78
£5.22
91%
£91.00
£9.00
Same game, same graphics, but the 91% version is expected to cost more than twice as much as the 96% one over the same play. These are long-run averages; a single session can land anywhere. Our guide to RTP versions explains why casinos pick different settings.
How to check which Red Tiger version you are playing
Load the game in real-money or age-verified demo mode.
Open the menu or the i button and go to the rules or help pages.
Scroll to the section on return to player; it usually sits near the end of the rules.
Note the figure and compare it with the published default in our table.
If it is lower, decide whether you still want to play it there or look for the same game elsewhere.
Red Tiger volatility: what a session feels like
Five of the seven Red Tiger titles in our table are rated high volatility, which means long stretches of small or no wins broken up by occasional larger features. Picture 200 spins at 50p (£100) on Dragon’s Fire: the base game will return small amounts often enough to keep the balance moving, but a large share of the game’s total return arrives through features you may not trigger at all in that session.
Cash Volt is the gentler option at medium volatility, with a lower 2,500x ceiling. If you want to compare volatility across studios, see our volatility guide.
UK rules on Red Tiger slots
Red Tiger games in Great Britain run under the same rules as every licensed slot: a £5 maximum stake per spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, at least 2.5 seconds per spin, no autoplay or turbo, and no feature buy. Demo versions are available only after age verification.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns Red Tiger?
Red Tiger is owned by Evolution, the Swedish live casino group. NetEnt bought Red Tiger in September 2019 for an initial £200m, and Evolution completed its takeover of NetEnt in December 2020, bringing Red Tiger into the group. Its sister studios include NetEnt, Big Time Gaming and Nolimit City. The ownership change did not alter how existing games pay; each still runs on its own certified maths. Our providers hub lists the other studios in the group.
Are Red Tiger daily jackpots worth chasing?
No jackpot is worth chasing in the sense of staking more to catch it. Red Tiger’s daily jackpots must drop before a deadline or cap, but many players across many casinos are feeding the same pot, so your chance on any single spin stays very small. The underlying slot’s house edge applies throughout. If you enjoy the extra prize, treat it as a bonus on top of a game you would play anyway, within a budget set beforehand. See are jackpot slots worth it.
What is the highest RTP Red Tiger slot?
Among the Red Tiger games we hold verified figures for, Mystery Reels has the highest published default at 96.24%. Several other well-known titles sit between about 94.8% and 95.8%, and some, such as Cash Volt, come in versions as low as about 91%. The version a casino runs can be lower than the default, so check the help screen in the game itself. For the highest-returning games across all studios, see the highest RTP slots in the UK.
Why does Cash Volt have different RTPs at different casinos?
Cash Volt is supplied in several return settings, from roughly 91% to 96%, and each casino chooses which one to run. The game looks and plays the same, but the lower settings return less over time. On £100 staked, the expected cost is about £4 at 96% and about £9 at 91%. The live figure is shown in the game’s rules, so check before you play. Our explainer on why RTP differs between casinos covers the background.
Is Gonzo’s Quest Megaways a Red Tiger game?
Yes. Gonzo’s Quest Megaways was built by Red Tiger as a remake of NetEnt’s original Gonzo’s Quest, using the Megaways engine invented by Big Time Gaming, both sister companies in the Evolution group. The remake has up to 117,649 ways, a 95.77% default RTP and a 21,000x top prize, so it is considerably more volatile than the original. The original Gonzo’s Quest is still available if you prefer the steadier version.
Are Red Tiger slots high volatility?
Most of the well-known ones are. Of the seven Red Tiger games in our table, five are rated high volatility, including Dragon’s Fire, Pirates’ Plenty and Piggy Riches Megaways. Mystery Reels and Gonzo’s Quest Megaways are medium to high, and Cash Volt is medium. High volatility means less frequent but larger wins, so a smaller budget can run out before a feature arrives. Our guide to playing high volatility slots explains how to size stakes for that.
Can I play Red Tiger slots for free?
You can play Red Tiger demos in the UK, but only after a casino has verified your age; that has been the rule since May 2019. Demos use play credits, so you cannot win or lose money, which makes them useful for seeing how features trigger and how often the game pays before you stake real money. Do check the RTP shown in the real-money version, as it can differ. Our demo mode glossary entry explains how demos work on UK sites.
Do Red Tiger slots work on mobile?
Red Tiger games run in a phone or tablet browser and inside casino apps without a separate download. The layout usually rotates to fit portrait or landscape, and the rules, RTP and jackpot panel are available from the in-game menu just as on desktop. Your stake limits and account tools stay the same whichever device you use. Our mobile slots page covers playing on phones in more detail.
What is the maximum bet on Red Tiger slots in the UK?
The maximum bet on any Red Tiger slot in Great Britain is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 per spin if you are aged 18 to 24. These limits came in during April and May 2025 and apply across all online slots, whatever the game’s own maximum is in other markets. Casinos must check your age to apply the right cap. Our page on UK slot stake limits explains how the rules work in practice.
