Why Jammin' Jars is a reference point for cluster slots
Plenty of cluster pays slots followed Jammin' Jars, and many borrowed its formula: a big square grid, fruit symbols, cascades and a wild that carries its own multiplier. Push Gaming wrapped all of that in a disco-funk theme, with a bass-heavy soundtrack and jars of jam that bop around the grid. The game has since spawned a sequel, Jammin’ Jars 2, and still appears in many UK casinos’ popular lists.
Its reputation rests on one idea done well. Most of the time the jars are just wilds. When several cluster together and their multipliers stack, the cascades can turn a small cluster into a large payout. That is also why the game is so streaky.
How cluster pays work on an 8 × 8 grid
There are no paylines. A win needs at least 5 matching fruit symbols touching each other horizontally or vertically; diagonal contact doesn’t count. With 64 positions, the grid has room for several clusters at once, and the cluster pays table rewards larger groups with sharply higher values.
After each win, the winning symbols vanish and new ones fall in from above. This cascading reels mechanic repeats as long as new clusters form, so one paid spin can contain several wins. Push Gaming describes it as fruits and jam jars cascading onto the grid.
Clusters of 5–7 fruits usually pay a fraction of the stake.
Large clusters of 15 or more can pay many times the stake, especially for premium fruits.
Check the paytable at your stake to see exact values in pounds, since they vary by symbol and cluster size.
Jam jar wilds and their multipliers
The jam jar does two jobs. As a wild, it substitutes for any fruit to help form or extend a cluster. As a scatter, it counts towards the free games trigger. Each jar carries a multiplier that starts at 1x and applies to every winning cluster the jar is part of, and the multiplier climbs as the jar keeps contributing to wins.
When two or more jars sit in the same cluster, their multipliers are combined, which is where the big numbers come from. The help screen explains whether they add or multiply in your version, so it is worth reading before you play. Here is a worked example with additive combination, at 40p a spin:
Cascade

2x + 2x
4x

3
2x (80p)
3x + 3x
6x

The values in the table are made up to show the shape of the mechanic, not taken from the paytable. The point is that each cascade can improve both the cluster and the multiplier, so a chain of wins grows quickly. Most chains stop after one or two drops.
The Rainbow feature
The Rainbow feature can trigger at random. A rainbow sweeps the grid and drops giant fruits, large square blocks of one symbol, which can burst into wins straight away. Push Gaming calls them massive fruits landing on the dance floor.
A giant fruit counts as many matching symbols at once, so one landing beside a jar can create a large, multiplied cluster in a single spin. It is the base game’s main boost, and like all random features it is already counted in the RTP.
Jammin' Jars free games
Three or more jam jars anywhere on the grid trigger the free games. In the round, the jars and their multipliers carry from spin to spin, which is the big difference from the base game: a jar’s multiplier no longer resets when the spin ends, so a jar that has climbed early keeps working for the rest of the round.
Push Gaming’s page doesn’t list the number of free games or the retrigger rule, so check the help screen of your version. The general pattern is clear, though: the round is short, its value depends on jars building and then landing next to big clusters, and many rounds pay a modest amount while a few pay a lot.
Feature buys are offered in some markets but not in Great Britain. In the UK, three jars on the grid is the only way into the free games.
How to play Jammin' Jars
Open the game and check the RTP in the info panel: 96.83% is the higher version, 94.25% the lower.
Set your stake. The UK cap is £5 a spin for players aged 25+ and £2 for 18–24s.
Spin manually; UK versions have no autoplay or turbo and each spin lasts at least 2.5 seconds.
Watch clusters of 5+ fruits pay and cascade; note where jars sit and their multipliers.
When three jars land, the free games begin with multipliers that carry between spins.
Check the net position display and stop when you reach your planned limit.
Jammin' Jars RTP and volatility
At 96.83%, Jammin' Jars has one of the higher RTPs in this group of games; its theoretical cost is £3.17 per £100 staked. Push Gaming also lists a 94.25% version, which costs £5.75 per £100 on average. That is an 81% higher average cost for the same play, so it is worth knowing which one your casino has chosen. Volatility is high. Many spins pay nothing; many paid spins return less than the stake; and a big result depends on jars building and stacking. Plan for long losing runs and set a budget you are fully prepared to lose. Our volatility guide explains how to size a stake against variance.
The 20,000x max win
Jammin' Jars’ max win is 20,000x your stake, and Push Gaming lists its highest observed win as 19,998.5x, so the ceiling has been approached in practice. At 20p that is £4,000; at £1, £20,000; at the £5 cap, £100,000. Reaching it requires several high-multiplier jars in large free games clusters, a very rare combination. See our high max win slots page for how this compares.
Fruit Party is the closest in theme, with a lower ceiling. Reactoonz trades fruit for aliens and a charge-meter system. The sequel raises the max win to 50,000x and adds new features. For more, see our fruit slots and cascading reels slots pages.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of Jammin' Jars?
Jammin' Jars has a top RTP of 96.83%, and Push Gaming also lists a 94.25% version. The casino chooses which to run, and the game shows the live figure in its info panel and loading screen. On £100 of stakes, the theoretical cost is £3.17 on the higher version and £5.75 on the lower. Over a long session that gap is significant. Our page on the highest RTP slots in the UK puts the figure in context.
How do the jam jars work in Jammin' Jars?
Jam jars are both wild and scatter symbols. As wilds, they substitute for any fruit to form clusters; as scatters, three or more trigger the free games. Each jar has a multiplier starting at 1x that applies to every winning cluster it joins and climbs as it keeps contributing. Several jars in one cluster combine their multipliers. The help screen shows the exact rules. Our wild symbol definition covers other wild types.
What is the max win on Jammin' Jars?
The max win on Jammin' Jars is 20,000x your stake, which is £4,000 at 20p or £20,000 at £1. Push Gaming lists a highest observed win of 19,998.5x, so the ceiling has been almost reached. Getting there requires several high-multiplier jars in large free games clusters, which is extremely rare. Most sessions end below the starting balance. Our max win definition explains how ceilings work.
How do you trigger free games on Jammin' Jars?
Land three or more jam jars anywhere on the 8 × 8 grid in one spin. In the free games, jars and their multipliers carry from spin to spin rather than resetting, which is where the largest wins come from. Push Gaming’s page doesn’t publish the number of free games, so check the help screen. Feature buys aren’t available in Great Britain. Our bonus buy slots page explains why.
What is the Rainbow feature in Jammin' Jars?
The Rainbow feature is a random event. A rainbow crosses the grid and drops giant fruits, big square blocks of one symbol, which can burst into winning clusters straight away. Because a giant fruit counts as many symbols at once, it can create a large win in one go, especially next to a jar. It is already counted in the RTP. Our slot features guide explains other random modifiers.
Is Jammin' Jars high volatility?
Yes, Jammin' Jars is a high-volatility slot. Much of its return comes from jars building multipliers and landing beside big clusters, which happens rarely. Expect many spins that pay nothing or less than the stake, and occasional larger results. That suits players with budgets that can absorb long losing runs. Our high volatility slots page compares similar games and how they behave.
What is the difference between Jammin' Jars and Jammin’ Jars 2?
Both use an 8 × 8 cluster grid with jam jar wilds, but the sequel adds a Gold Vinyl meter, a Giga Jar feature with Giga Spins, instant prize symbols and a Fruit Blast feature, and raises the max win to 50,000x. The original keeps a simpler structure with the Rainbow feature and free games, and a published top RTP of 96.83%. Our Jammin’ Jars 2 review covers the sequel in detail.
What is the maximum bet on Jammin' Jars in the UK?
In Great Britain the maximum bet on Jammin' Jars is £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for players aged 18 to 24. Those caps apply to every online slot, regardless of the game’s own top stake. A casino can also set lower limits, and you can set your own with deposit limits. Our page on the £2 slot stake limit explains why younger adults have a lower cap.
Can I play Jammin' Jars for free?
Yes, you can play a Jammin' Jars demo at some UK sites once you have verified your age, a requirement for free casino games in Great Britain since 2019. It is useful for seeing how jars and cascades work without spending money. Demo play doesn’t predict real-money results, because every spin is independent. Our free slots guide explains where age-verified demos are offered and what they can teach you.
