Push Gaming slots are made by a London-headquartered studio founded in 2010 and best known for Jammin’ Jars, Razor Shark and Big Bamboo. LeoVegas Group, part of MGM Resorts, announced a majority stake in May 2023. The detail that matters most to players is that many Push Gaming games ship in two RTP versions about two points apart, so knowing which one you are on changes the cost of every session.

Push Gaming slots: the short version
Push Gaming is one of the few well-known slot studios headquartered in the UK. It was founded in 2010, co-founded by James Marshall, and runs from London with a second office in Ta’ Xbiex, Malta. Its slots are compact, high-volatility games built around one strong mechanic each: a growing wild, a walking multiplier, a mystery reveal.
Three facts shape how to approach them. The studio is now majority-owned by LeoVegas Group; its games are mostly high volatility; and several come in a lower RTP version as well as the default. Each is covered below.
LeoVegas is a casino operator, so the deal put a studio under the same roof as a group of casinos. That does not change how existing games pay: each version’s maths is certified before release. You can look up the Gambling Commission licence of any supplier or casino on the public register, and our guide on checking a slot site’s licence explains how.
“Not listed” means we hold no verified figure, not that a game has no lower version. Always confirm the live RTP in the game’s help screen.
What the two Push Gaming RTP versions cost in pounds
A two-point gap sounds small. In money it is not. Take Big Bamboo at 40p a spin for 500 spins, which is £200 staked:
At the 96.13% default, the long-run expected cost is about £7.74.
At the 94.13% version, it is about £11.74.
That is roughly half as much again for exactly the same game and graphics.
Those are averages over very many spins; one session can end anywhere, and on a high-volatility game the spread is wide. The point is that the lower version takes more over time, every time, and you can only tell which one you are playing from the help screen. Our explainer on RTP versions sets out why casinos choose different settings.
Push Gaming’s signature mechanics
Growing character wilds (the Fat series)
Fat Rabbit and Fat Santa each have a character wild that collects a particular symbol during free spins and grows in size as it does, covering more of the grid. A bigger wild touches more of the 50 paylines, which is where the big results come from. Fat Banker belongs to the same family on a larger 6×6 grid; its help screen sets out exactly how its wild behaves.
Walking jars and multipliers (Jammin’ Jars)
Jammin’ Jars uses an 8×8 grid paying for clusters of five or more matching symbols. Its jar symbols are wilds that move around the grid during free spins and build multipliers. Because clusters can form anywhere, small wins land fairly often even though the game is high volatility overall. See how cluster pays works.
Mystery reveals (Razor Shark and Big Bamboo)
Both games stack mystery symbols that turn into the same symbol, a multiplier or something more valuable when revealed. Razor Shark adds a nudge before the reveal. The anticipation is built in, so it helps to remember that each reveal was decided the moment you pressed spin.
Push Gaming volatility in a real session
Eight of the nine games in our table are rated high or medium-to-high. On those, expect stretches where the balance only falls, punctuated by features that can return many times the stake or very little. Mount Magmas, at medium volatility and 96.5%, is the gentlest option in the list.
Budget accordingly. £20 at 20p gives 100 spins, which on a high-volatility Push Gaming game is often not enough to see a bonus round. At 10p the same £20 gives 200 spins and a fairer chance to see what the game does. Our guide to playing high volatility slots has more on sizing stakes.
How to check which Push Gaming version a casino runs
Open the game and tap the menu or information icon.
Go to the game rules and find the return to player (RTP) line.
Compare the figure with the default in our table.
If it is the lower version, consider whether you would rather play the game where the default is offered.
Note the max win and volatility on the same screen before setting your stake.
UK rules on Push Gaming slots
Push Gaming’s British versions follow the same rules as any slot in Great Britain: £5 per spin maximum for over-25s, £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, at least 2.5 seconds per spin, no autoplay, turbo or slam-stop, and no feature buy. You can try a demo once the casino has confirmed your age.

Frequently asked questions
Is Push Gaming a British company?
Yes. Push Gaming was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in London, with an additional office in Ta’ Xbiex, Malta. It holds a Gambling Commission licence for Great Britain, account 054984 in the name of Push Gaming Holding Limited, alongside licences in Malta, Ontario and Romania. Since 2023 it has been majority-owned by LeoVegas Group, part of the US company MGM Resorts. Our providers hub lists other UK-based studios such as Blueprint Gaming.
Who owns Push Gaming?
LeoVegas Group owns a majority stake in Push Gaming, a deal announced in May 2023. LeoVegas is itself part of MGM Resorts. James Marshall co-founded the studio in 2010. Ownership doesn’t change the certified maths of existing games; each game version is tested before release. If you want to see how ownership compares across studios, our Red Tiger page shows a studio owned by Evolution instead.
Why do Push Gaming slots have two RTPs?
Push Gaming, like many developers, supplies several of its games in more than one return setting, and each casino chooses which to run. Big Bamboo, for example, comes at 96.13% and 94.13%. The games look and play identically; the lower version simply returns less over time. On £200 staked, that is an expected cost of about £7.74 against £11.74. Check the help screen to see which you are playing. Our explainer on why RTP differs between casinos has more.
What is the best Push Gaming slot?
It depends on what you want. Jammin’ Jars has the highest default RTP in our table at 96.83%, with cluster pays on an 8×8 grid and a 20,000x top prize. Razor Shark is close behind at 96.70%. Big Bamboo and Jammin’ Jars 2 have the highest ceilings at 50,000x, while Mount Magmas is the calmest at medium volatility. Compare these figures against your budget before choosing. Our Reactoonz vs Jammin’ Jars comparison weighs the studio’s best-known game against a rival.
How do the Fat Rabbit and Fat Santa features work?
In both games a character wild collects a particular symbol during the free spins round and grows larger as it collects, eventually covering a big block of the 5×5 grid. Because the games use 50 paylines, a larger wild touches many lines at once, which is where their bigger wins come from. The growth depends on how many collectable symbols land, so some rounds grow little. Fat Banker, from the same family, uses a larger 6×6 grid. Our expanding wild slots page covers similar mechanics.
Are Push Gaming slots high volatility?
Mostly, yes. Of the nine Push Gaming games in our table, seven are rated high and Fat Santa is medium to high, leaving Mount Magmas as the only medium-volatility title. That means long runs of small or no wins, with much of the return coming from features. A budget that buys only 100 spins may not be enough to see one. Lowering your stake to get more spins is the usual approach. Our volatility guide explains what the ratings mean.
Can I play Push Gaming slots for free in the UK?
Yes, in demo mode, but only after the casino has verified your age, as required in Great Britain since May 2019. A demo uses play credits, so nothing is won or lost, and it is a good way to see how a game like Jammin’ Jars or Big Bamboo behaves before staking money. A demo can run a different RTP version from the real game, so check the real-money help screen too. Our page on free slots explains how demos work on UK sites.
What is the maximum win on Push Gaming slots?
The highest published caps in our table are 50,000x the stake on Big Bamboo and Jammin’ Jars 2, followed by 25,000x on Fat Banker and 20,000x on the original Jammin’ Jars. At a £1 stake, 50,000x would be £50,000. These caps are reached extremely rarely and should be read as a sign of high volatility rather than a likely outcome. Our guide to slot max wins explains how caps are set and what happens when one is hit.
Are Push Gaming slots fair?
Push Gaming slots offered in Great Britain must be tested to Gambling Commission technical standards before release, including checks on the random number generator and the stated return. Every spin is independent, and mystery reveals or near misses are decided the moment you press spin. The house edge applies, so losses are likely over time. Play only at UK-licensed casinos, where those standards are enforced. Our guide to how slots are tested in the UK explains the process.
