Pirots 2 slot is ELK Studios’ sequel to Pirots: the birds now collect amber instead of gems on a 6x6 grid that can grow to 8x8, amber can be upgraded up to seven times, and two new feature symbols, popcorn and redrops, join the mix. The RTP stays at 94% and the cap at 10,000x, but volatility rises to high.

Pirots 2 slot: the sequel in short
The original Pirots introduced CollectR, ELK Studios’ system in which coloured birds travel around a grid collecting matching symbols instead of waiting for paylines. Pirots 2 keeps that core and changes almost everything around it. The collectables are now chunks of amber rather than gems, which gives the game a fossil-hunting feel, the starting board is bigger, and the toolbox of feature symbols grows from six to eight.
The headline maths stays put: 94% RTP and a 10,000x cap. What moves is the volatility, which is rated high rather than medium–high. In plain terms, ELK has kept the average return the same but spread it more unevenly, with more weight on bigger, rarer rounds.

The bigger starting grid matters more than it looks. A 6x6 board has 36 positions against 25, so birds begin each spin with 44% more squares to work across, and the gap to the 8x8 maximum (64 positions) is smaller. Our guide on how slot sequels differ explains why studios often keep RTP fixed and shift volatility instead.
Amber symbols and the seven upgrade levels
Each bird collects amber of its own colour. Every collected piece pays according to its current level, and ELK says amber can be upgraded up to seven times, with each upgrade raising the payout. All collected amber, whatever its colour, adds to the feature meter.
Upgrades are what turn an ordinary round into a strong one. A piece of amber at its first level pays a small fraction of the stake; the same colour after several upgrades pays much more each time a bird collects it. Because the amber level carries into the bonus, upgrades early in a round also improve the bonus if it triggers. The paytable inside the game lists the exact value of each colour at each level, and our symbol upgrade entry explains the mechanic in general.
All eight Pirots 2 feature symbols
When the feature meter fills, three chests open with random feature symbols. These are the eight types ELK lists:
Symbol
What it does
Coin
Pays an instant win
Symbol upgrade
Raises amber levels so later collections pay more
Wild
Adds flexibility to what the birds can collect
Grid expansion
Makes the board bigger, up to 8x8
Redrop
New in Pirots 2: gives the board another drop
Symbol transformation
Changes amber already on the board
Popcorn
New in Pirots 2: fills empty positions so birds can cross them
Bonus
Counts towards the three needed to start the bonus
Popcorn and redrops: the two new tools
Popcorn
Once birds have collected amber, gaps appear on the grid. ELK describes popcorn as a symbol that, when collected, fills those empty positions so that a bird can cross each empty space once to reach more symbols. In practice it opens routes that would otherwise be closed, letting a bird reach amber of its colour on the far side of a gap.
Redrops
A redrop gives the board another drop, a fresh chance for birds to find matching amber within the same round. It works in a similar spirit to a respin: you are not charged again, and the help screen sets out exactly what is redropped.
All these features play out inside one paid round. UK rules still apply at least 2.5 seconds between the start of each paid spin, with no turbo or slam-stop.
How to play Pirots 2
Open the game information and check the RTP, the amber values at each level and the feature symbol list.
Choose a stake within the UK limit: £5 a spin at 25 and over, £2 at 18 to 24.
Spin. Amber fills the 6x6 grid and each bird collects pieces of its own colour.
Watch the feature meter; when it fills, three chests add feature symbols.
Use the board as it grows: expansions, upgrades and popcorn routes carry through the round.
Collect three bonus symbols in one round to start the bonus game.
The Pirots 2 bonus game and what carries over
Three bonus symbols collected during one round trigger the bonus game. ELK lists four things that carry over: grid size, feature meter progress, amber payout level and any additional bonus symbol collections. The last item is new compared with the original and rewards rounds that collect more than the minimum three.
The practical effect is that no two bonuses start equal. One that triggers on a fully expanded 8x8 board with upgraded amber has far more potential than one that starts on the basic 6x6 grid. That variation is a large part of why the game is rated high volatility. ELK does not describe the bonus as free spins, so read the in-game help for how the round runs at your casino. Our page on what a slot bonus round is gives background.
High volatility: planning a Pirots 2 session
High volatility means longer stretches of small returns between the rounds that build up and reach the bonus. The simplest way to plan is to work out how many spins a budget buys at different stakes and to choose one that gives the game room to play out.

About £4.44
The average cost of staking £75 is the same at every level, about £4.50, because it depends on the total staked. What changes is how likely you are to see the bonus at all: 300 spins at 25p gives far more chances than 37 spins at £2. Our high-volatility slot guide covers this in more detail, and our bankroll guide shows how to set limits.
Pirots 2 RTP and max win in pounds
The published RTP is 94%, so for every £100 staked the long-run average return is £94. A typical 96% slot would return £96 on the same amount, so Pirots 2 costs about 50% more to play on average. The max win is 10,000x: £1,000 at 10p, £2,500 at 25p, £20,000 at £2 and £50,000 at £5. Reaching it needs a bonus that starts big and keeps building, which very few rounds do. Read more about why RTP differs between sites.
UK version: no X-iter or Super Bonus
Outside Great Britain, ELK’s X-iter offers five paid modes, from a 3x-stake option with more than three times the usual bonus chance up to a 500x-stake Super Bonus with progressive sticky multipliers and instant-pay symbols. Feature buys are not offered to British players, so none of these modes, including the Super Bonus and its multipliers, appear in UK lobbies. There is no autoplay, and stake caps of £5 and £2 apply. Demo play is available after age verification. Our UK slot rules page has the full list.
All four are high-volatility grid games, and the other three publish noticeably higher RTPs. Jammin’ Jars 2 has the highest cap of the group. What none of them has is the collector mechanic, which is the reason to choose Pirots 2. More games like these are on our cluster pays slots page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Pirots and Pirots 2?
Pirots 2 starts on a 6x6 grid instead of 5x5, has birds collecting amber rather than gems, offers eight feature symbol types instead of six, and is rated high volatility rather than medium–high. Amber can be upgraded up to seven times, and extra bonus symbol collections carry into the bonus. The RTP of 94% and the 10,000x maximum win are the same in both games. Our Pirots review covers the original if you want to compare in full.
What is the RTP of Pirots 2?
The published RTP of Pirots 2 is 94%. That means a long-run average return of £94 for every £100 staked, or an average cost of £6 per £100. Many modern grid slots publish 96% or more, which would cost £4 per £100, so Pirots 2 is relatively expensive to play on average. Volatility means any session can finish far from that average. Confirm the figure in your casino’s help screen, and see our guide to RTP versions.
What does popcorn do in Pirots 2?
Popcorn is a feature symbol new to Pirots 2 that fills empty positions on the grid when a bird collects it. Those filled spaces let a bird cross each empty position once to reach more amber, so routes that a gap would normally block become usable. It is one of the eight feature symbols that can appear when the feature meter fills and three chests open. Our guide to slot features explains other modifiers that change how a board plays.
How do you trigger the bonus in Pirots 2?
You trigger the Pirots 2 bonus by having the birds collect three bonus symbols during one game round. Bonus symbols are among the feature symbols that the chests can award. When the bonus starts, grid size, feature meter progress, amber payout level and any additional bonus symbol collections all carry over, so a strong round leads into a stronger bonus. There is no paid shortcut in the UK. Our explainer on how slot features trigger covers the randomness involved.
What is the max win on Pirots 2?
The max win on Pirots 2 is 10,000x your stake. That is £2,500 at a 25p stake, £20,000 at £2 and £50,000 at the UK top stake of £5 for players aged 25 and over. Reaching the cap needs a bonus that starts on a large board with upgraded amber and keeps building, which is very rare. The cap is the same as in the original Pirots. Our answer on what max win means explains how these figures work.
Is Pirots 2 high volatility?
Yes, Pirots 2 is rated high volatility, one step above the medium–high rating of the original Pirots. That means more of its 94% return is concentrated in rarer, larger rounds, and quiet spells between them can be long. With £75 at 25p you get 300 spins, which gives far more chances to see the bonus than 37 spins at £2. Choose a stake that fits your budget. Our guide on how to compare slot volatility has more examples.
Can you buy the Super Bonus on Pirots 2 in the UK?
No, the Pirots 2 Super Bonus cannot be bought in the UK. It is part of ELK’s X-iter system, which offers paid modes from 3x to 500x stake, and feature buys are not offered to players in Great Britain. That means the progressive sticky multipliers described for the Super Bonus are not part of the UK game. You can only reach the bonus by collecting three bonus symbols in normal play. Our guide on how bonus buys work explains the background.
What are redrops in Pirots 2?
Redrops are a feature symbol in Pirots 2 that give the board another drop within the same round, creating a fresh chance for the birds to find and collect matching amber. You are not charged for a redrop; it is part of the round you have already paid for. Redrops are new to the sequel and appear among the eight feature symbols the chests can award when the feature meter fills. Our respin glossary entry describes similar second-chance features.
